Healing Time

Hello family and friends, just wanted to give you-all a quick update on Fred's progress...all the treatments are finally done, so no more assaults on his body, unfortunately the effects of treatment to Fred's body are cumulative and lasting, so he has a long way to go. The last two weeks have been tough on Fred and all of us, he wants so bad to feel normal again and this is truly a slow process. A few people have ask what comes next, well healing, lots of Doctor appointments and faith in what Fred just went through worked! I want to send out a few thank yous to some people who either made our day or made it easier on us...to Phil and Colleen, thank you so much for fixing the window, I know the project was more than what was expected, but it's a huge load off Fred's shoulder and I'm sure the neighbors appreciate not looking at that eye sore anymore (as well as myself!). To Lori and Dan, thank you for taking Maddi to swimming every morning, she would not have been able to participate otherwise and she absolutely loved it! To Barb and Tom, thank you for taking Maddi in at times, feeding her dinner and bringing some normalcy to an otherwise un-normal summer. To Terry and Mark W. thank you for the quick fix on Andrew's car and not charging nearly what it should have been and for giving Maddi a home away from home. To Lynn thank you for the meal, there is no cooking happening here the smells get to Fred. To Colleen thanks for the homegrown snow peas, lettuce and zucchini, they were delicious. To everyone who sent cards and such, e-mails, phone calls, text messages and stopping by the desk at BTCC, we thank you for asking about Fred and our family, having an illness can be very isolating and make you feel out of touch with everyone and everything so hearing from you-all has made this journey a little more bearable. Lastly I want to thank with all my heart Fred's parents Jooge and G-Dad, there is no way to tell them how much they have help us physically and emotionally. Their support has been like a life line that has kept me personally from sinking and For Fred as well as myself a huge comfort, they are our Angels here on earth, love you. My hope is the next post to this blog will be written by Fred himself...I hope I have not left anyone off my list of "thank you"if I have I'm sorry, not because I don't care, just because my brain is pretty much fried! One more Treatment!

Hello family and friends, Fred has one more radiation treatment this coming Monday 7/20/09, that day can't come soon enough! The effects of chemo and radiation will last for sometime, Fred's not talking all that much and swallowing is very difficult at this time. He will slowly begin to heal and hopefully be back to writing on this blog and letting you-all know how he is feeling. I can say that he is extremely brave and fighting hard. This has been an extremely difficult time for our family and we still have some rough stuff yet to go...so hang in there with us, we will return phone calls and e-mails someday soon, until then...:) Love & Peace Dana

The Last week Plus one day!

hello Family and Friends, Fred is so close to being done with treatment...he has one more chemo treatment and 6 more radiation treatments. We thank you so much for all your prayers and good wishes, please don't stop...they are what have gotten Fred and us through all this crazy stuff! Fred's radiation treatments have taken a toll on his throat and mouth, so he finds it difficult to talk too much, so keep your e-mails and comments to this blog coming, he finds comfort in you-all checking in. He has been watching the Phillie's, glad they are on a winning streak! He also has been watching golf, so all you golf buddies he will eventually look forward to getting out there with you and playing, hopefully sooner rather than later! Fred's parents have been wonderful, helping in anyway possible. His Dad is his radiation buddy...taking him to appointments and also being his support when he needs to talk with the Doctors and their staff. Their help has allowed me to continue to work and keep things rolling around here, Thank you so very much G-Dad and Jooge! Fred is hanging tough, he knows this week could be the toughest one yet, so we will continue to take it one day at a time, live to our best ability and continue to pray for strength, comfort and good health for Fred and all those afflicted with this terrible disease. :) Peace Dana

Happy 4th of July

Hello family and friends hope your having a great 4th weekend. Fred and I are keeping a low profile today, Molly is hanging with us. Maddi and Andrew have friends family parties to attend, which we are thankful for, they deserve a carefree day full of fun and fireworks! We continue to be thankful for the prayers and good wishes that you all have sent our way, please keep them coming...The treatments have taken a toll on Fred, he is still able to drive himself some days to treatment and then put a few hours of work in, he is very brave because he is truly hurting. He has one more Chemo treatment and 11 radiation treatments to go. We know that the next 2 weeks will be difficult and test every ounce of strength that Fred has left. Fred has received your calls and e-mails and at times feels bad that he can not respond, please know that he appreciates that you are checking in, and looks forward to when he can be with you all again...so be well, remember to live every day and we will touch base soon...:) Love and Peace Dana
